(The Indo Daily) – Pope Francis landed safely at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 11.29 a.m., just before midday on Tuesday (13/10, kicking off his 4-day visit to Indonesia. Pope Francis is the third Pope to visit Indonesia after Pope Paul VI in 1970 and Pope Paul II in 1989.
Pope Francis will be in Indonesia from Sept. 3 to 6, 2024. He will visit the State Palace on Sept. 4, 2024, to hold a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Later in the day, Pope Francis will meet with mass organizations and diplomats.
The Pope will also meet with Indonesian Jesuit priests at the Vatican Embassy in Jakarta as well as hold meetings with Indonesian priests, bishops, scholars, and others.

The following day (Thursday, Sept 5, 2024), Pope Francis will visit Istiqal Mosque, in Jakarta, the country’s largest mosque. Later at 17.00 Pope Francis will lead public Mass at Bung Karno Stadion.
On Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, the Pope will carry on his Asian tour by visiting PNG and then East Timor and the latest Singapore, before flying back home to Rome.
The Kompas TV shows the Pope was using a wheelchair from an aircraft to a modest car, which appears to be a White Avanza, known in Indonesia as the ‘people’s car’, that brought him to the Airport terminal.
